Turning Torso, Sweden

Located on the Swedish side of the Oresund strait, Turning Torso is a residential-cum- commercial tower that has been constructed in Malmö, Sweden. It is designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, Based on a sculpture that he had made years ago.
Upon completion, it was the tallest building in Scandinavia. At over 50 stories, this building is easily Calatrava’s largest, and is a rare foray into residential design.

The building is modeled after a human torso in a turning motion. The entire building turns 90° as it climbs upwards over nine blocks or cubes, each of which consists of five floors.

This very impressive structure contains 54 storeys and reaches a dizzying height of 190 meters.
